Dr. Smith offers comprehensive assessment services for adults that are tailored to meet the specific needs of each client. The evaluations help clients by determining their unique cognitive and emotional strengths and weaknesses. Services include assessments for a wide range of psychological issues including:
- Cognitive and Academic Issues (Intellectual Functioning, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Differences)
- Mood Disorders (Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, OCD, Phobias)
- Memory Concerns
- Medical Consultation (pain management, medication compliance, behavioral medicine)
- Pre-surgery and Medical Assessment
At the beginning of the assessment process, Dr. Smith will meet with you to obtain comprehensive background information to determine the best approach to meet your needs. When selecting psychological testing services, she encourages you to ask other providers if all of the testing will be completed by a licensed, doctoral-level psychologist. Dr. Smith does not utilize graduate students, psychometrists, or psychological technicians which allows for a more personal service. The practice model assures you that a psychologist with extensive experience is involved in all phases of the evaluation: testing, interpretation, diagnosis, recommendations, and advocacy.
In conjunction with an evaluation, if indicated, Dr. Smith also provides short-term individual, marital, and family therapy. If the client requires long-term therapy, Dr. Smith will refer them to colleagues in the community. Dr. Smith employs an eclectic approach to therapy, utilizing research-based treatment plans to address the individual needs of each client. Therapeutic services also include group therapy when available. Group therapy consists of Intake, screening for group appropriateness, and subsequent group therapy sessions.
